I’m not a huge Hillary fan, just as I wasn’t big on Bill, and only thought “Yes, We Can”, actually could if the people made Obama do it (which he actually begged for, to no avail). I think she’s not a heck of a lot different than Dwight Eisenhower, politically, even if that statement may be a bit of hyperbole. . I was a Deaniac, who felt the Bern, and have a couple Nader votes in my past to boot. I think Kos can be a jerk for lambasting those who don’t share his particular zip code behind the barricades..
That being said…
I am going to work my ass off to help elect Hillary Clinton as the next POTUS. I’ve made a commitment to 3,000 phone calls to voters in battleground states (I live in WA, or I’d be knocking on doors) to use every last bit of my heart and soul to GOTV. It’s time to do what we progressives do — Act on our conscience, stick up for the last and the least, and move our leaders to act in the best interest of humanity.
History is being made each day we’re all alive, and anyone who thinks they’re not a significant player within that history is missing an important point. Each of you matters. Immensely. What you do, as long as you walk out that door and do something, impacts the world. Everything from running for local office, to phonebanking, to volunteering at the food bank, to giving $10 to a progressive candidate. These things are transformative. These actions matter. They change the world, starting with you.
So, I truly hope that each of us can take a moment and observe this moment in history — a moment when the United States of America is fighting a cultural war with decency on one side and something too much like fascism on the other.
Will history paint us as a people who stood up to this danger, and pressed our “democracy” towards decency and greatness? Or will we stand down and let something truly awful happen.
Let’s do this, guys. Let’s walk through this crossroads of history, and choose the path of decency. Let’s make this a landslide, because these guys seeking to steal our history — they deserve to become history themselves.
