Judge Ravi Sandill is seeking re-election as a Democrat for the 127th Civil District Court in Harris County. This office is on the ballot in all of the county. District courts are trial courts for major cases. Their judges are elected countywide in Harris County to 4-year terms and there are many, many of them.
In this campaign season I am a volunteer, not paid by anyone. I am not a lawyer.
Judge Sandill was first elected in 2008, re-elected 2012. He has his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He is the only official of south Asian descent who has been elected countywide by Harris County. Right after law school he worked as a briefing attorney under Murry Cohen of the Texas First Court of Appeals. He then went into civil private practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He concentrated on commercial, appellate, and trade secret cases. He also did some criminal defense.
He has been active in many organizations such as being a fellow both of the Texas Bar Foundation and of the Houston Young Lawyers’ Foundation. He often speaks before groups on legal topics. He has been active in the Minority Opportunities in the Law Profession Committee. He received in 2015 the Public Sector Achievement Award from the University of Houston Law Center.
Twelve years ago Sandill was treated for Hodgkins lymphoma and tests are saying the treatment has been successful. Yours truly had a cancer removed in 1985 and I must go in for cat-scans every year. I am told there is always a chance malignancies can come back. I wish Judge Sandill the best.
It costs money to run for any office. Your donations would be most appreciated. After you donate, the page allows you to plant links on Facebook and Twitter to ask others to donate.
