That’s a picture of Bernie Sanders back at work in the Senate. He’s not going to be president. That sucks pretty bad. I was completely in the tank for Bernie. The thing that spoke to me about him was authenticity. Here’s a guy who’s been fighting the good fights his whole life, who can’t walk past a wage protest on his way to work without jumping into the picket line. But you know what, Bernie’s not done. He’s right back there doing what he does, and he’s fuckin old. So you better not be done either.
Here’s a question, do you support Clinton? Trick question, nobody cares, this diary is about Congress. See, a year ago America didn’t know or care what Crazy Socialist Bernie Sanders had to say. Now he’s the single most popular politician in the country with the largest age group in the country. That’s called influence. The kind of influence that normally only corporate money can buy.
What we are is a giant, nation wide, passionate and dedicated group of people united behind a list of principles. ‘Round these parts they will say that the most important thing is to get Clinton elected to the White House. Fine, that’s fair. But you’re also perfectly welcome to pick a local senate race, pick a candidate that you think represents your values as a Sanders voter and try to bring Bernie allies he can work with to set a legislative agenda.
All those people milling about in the purple area and all those empty seats, those are Bernie’s co-workers and we get to vote on how well they are doing.
Ps. I liked the title of this diary so I jacked it.
