If you haven't read Putin’s Puppet by Franklin Foer in Slate, you should:
If Putin wanted to concoct the ideal candidate to serve his purposes, his laboratory creation would look like Donald Trump. The Republican nominee wants to shatter our military alliances in Europe; he cheers the destruction of the European Union; he favors ratcheting down tensions with Russia over Ukraine and Syria, both as a matter of foreign policy and in service of his own pecuniary interests. A Trump presidency would weaken Putin’s greatest geo-strategic competitor. By stoking racial hatred, Trump will shred the fabric of American society. He advertises his willingness to dismantle constitutional limits on executive power. In his desire to renegotiate debt payments, he would ruin the full faith and credit of the United States. One pro-Kremlin blogger summed up his government’s interest in this election with clarifying bluntness: “Trump will smash America as we know it, we’ve got nothing to lose.”
I blogged on the same subject in a Daily Kos story this week called One word – it starts with "T" – to describe Trump and his enablers. I argued that there is enough evidence already to call into question Trump's loyalty to our country, and a good name for him is ”Traitor Trump”. Someone commenting on the blog suggested I try to make that trend on twitter. Hence the #TraitorTrump of the title. But I don't do twitter so trending isn't going to happen unless someone else picks up the challenge.
Since Franklin Foer and I wrote about Trump and his loyalty to Putin, a lot more has been written. Dana Milbank picked up the traitor theme in the Washington Post.
The New York Times established that Julian Assange timed the release of the Democratic emails (stolen by Russians) to do maximum injury to Hillary Clinton.
The Times also established that the Russian government is likely to be behind the hacking of the DNC.
Trump's claim to have no ties to Russia has been debunked by the Washington Post.
And Trump himself came damn near to uttering treason himself.
Some already call it treason.
We need to do whatever we can to force the media and the public to talk about this story from now until November 8. Because it is that big. And once people notice it, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that Trump can do to make it go away.
