Has Donald Trump finally crossed that line of House Speaker Paul Ryan’s with his "Second Amendment" threat against Hillary Clinton? Of course not!
Speaking at a news conference Tuesday night in Wisconsin after his landslide win in a GOP primary, Ryan said he hadn't actually heard Trump's remarks but he had heard about them.
"I've been a little busy," Ryan said. "It sounds like a joke gone bad. You should never joke about that. I hope he clears it up quickly."
Right. Because Trump has proven himself so willing to and capable of clearing up the horrible things he says on a daily basis. In fact, Trump did make clear that he wasn't joking but that it was all a media distortion. He took the out that the NRA gave him, saying that his comment said precisely what it did not say—that gun voters should organize to make sure Clinton didn't win the election. Which is not what he said. At all.
Paul Ryan, this is on you, too. Nice try at trying to brush it off as if it's not your problem, but it is. This is your Republican Party, and Trump is your nominee.
