I’m a daily listener to NPR. It’s one of my primary sources of news and it helps me feel a part of a greater local and national community. I was strenously opposed to the many GOP suggestions that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting lose its federal funding because I really believe that it performs a great public service.
That being established, its recent story, published on Facebook, has me fuming. Here it is:
Why Are The Media Obsessed With Trump's Controversies And Not Clinton's?
The compulsive need to appear fair has become knee-jerk and destructive to the pursuit of truth, which should be the goal of public entities like NPR. It shouldn’t be necessary to mix lies with the truth in order to give the artificial appearance of fairness.
For the record, Harvard did a study of the media's coverage of the candidates, and found (via Vox):
Last year, no candidate got more negative media coverage than Hillary Clinton
