Hello everyone, So sorry for the long delay, but today was worse than yesterday. I awoke to the knocking of the front door, or the dogs alerted me, and there was the cable guy from Time Warner. An hour early than he was supposed to. He checked the setup and pushed here and poked there, an in the end made so that now the server computer couldn’t get onto the internet. Right then and there I knew my day was going to go to Dante’s version of Hell!!!
After he left, I had to settle down and think because panicking wasn’t going to get the network back up. So I took a few deep breaths, got out the phone book and started making a few calls. My first call was to Geek Squad. The best they could do was come out tomorrow and that was going to cost me $249.00 and they didn’t take cash. So I looked again and found a local computer store that was like right around the corner. He was the owner and a network tech. He solved the problem And it cost me $130.00 plus equipment.
At around 1:45 this afternoon, a man from the funeral arrived with Spike’s ashes, some travel paperwork should I want to take his ashes by plane, train or whatever, and the death certificates. When I got the plastic box urn in my hands, I almost dropped them. But I kept my composure, thanked the man, and took his ashes to his bedroom. I set them on his desk and surrounded the box with several of his favorite cigars. I then left the room, and suddenly became violently ill.
I felt so bad that I decided to take some stomach meds and lay down. I woke up half an hour ago , walked the dogs and set my butt here on the PC and finally got the strength to write an update.
The source of my stress was the fact that the cable guys fiddling around caused the only PC left that was connected to the internet to no longer work. I was going to put out a call an Austin Kossack to come help me get the network started back up. But even I am sympathetic to the fact that they may be at work and cannot get away let alone come all the way to Bastrop. But many of you gave me the strength to get my brain working and get a good result.
For helping me keep sane, I once again thank you all.
