Despite the fact that Hillary’s campaign has been dominating the airwaves for the past several months, including a savvy national ad-buy during the Olympics, Trump has so far responded with… nothing. Nada. Zilch. Goose egg. No ad buys. Trump didn’t need to advertise during the primaries, so for months he figured he didn’t need to advertise during the general election.
Reality has come crashing down on Trump, and he’s now lagging well behind Clinton in the polls. To staunch the bleeding, it was announced yesterday that Trump was finally going to start running ads. Via RedState, we know now what his first ad-buy looks like:
First ad buy from Trump is modest. $270k in FL, $72k in OH, $78k in PA. Pro-Clinton side already spent $23m in FL, $17m in OH, $6m in PA.

Or, as RedState puts it, “Trump’s Pathetic First Ad Buy Is A Total Joke.” There’s really not much more to add here. Those are numbers you would expect from a Senate race, maybe a House race in an expensive district. For a presidential campaign 80 days from election day, this is just laughable.
Is Trump’s campaign broke? Is his campaign hogtied by his delusional belief that his rallies are enough? Is Trump trying to spend as little as possible so he can pocket the change after he loses? I don’t know, but I do know this: we’re going to crush him on November 8.
