This post will strike many as frivolous, especially those who lack a sense of humor. And it’s difficult to find anything funny about a mentally unbalanced major party nominee who casually suggests disbanding NATO, extending nuclear proliferation, and even the use of nuclear weapons in Europe and the Middle East. Our nuclear program, as four-star General Michael Hayden—retired United States Air Force four-star general and former Director of the National Security Agency, Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and former Director of the CIA—recently pointed out, is designed for speedy use and retaliation. Short of military personnel refusing to obey, the president can order a nuclear strike and there is no way to debate the call.
Donald Trump is such a clear and present danger, to both the nation and the world, that there is no form of discourse, including satire, that I will refrain from using against him. I first designed these “tiny-hands” memes for Facebook, but then decided to get on Twitter, and saturate the social media with them. In particular, I posted them in the comments section on Trump’s own tweets, in the hopes of getting under his notoriously thin skin. Whether or not he saw them I don’t know. But either he or one of his screeners subsequently blocked me from his account, and I count that as a small moral victory.
Since he takes the slightest thing so deeply and personally, and possesses the impulse control of a small child, ridicule is an effective tactic for taking him down. I use it in conjunction with serious posts. It also helps me let off steam. So here they are. Please feel free to use them in any way you wish or see fit.
