Sorry for the low quality of the image, but yes that is Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Kaine doing a little harp solo during Asleep at the Wheel’s cover of On the Road Again.
I could not attend due to a conflict, but my sister and brother in law scraped together $250 for the cheap seats (standing behind a rope, actually) in a small ballroom at Hotel Van Zandt in downtown Austin.
The band was to be the last act before Sen. Kaine’s speech, but he surprised the crowd by joining the band for a spirited jam. And my sister reports that he was very good.
I know this is a spare diary bereft of detail, but the general report is that he gave a “great speech” that buoyed the crowd especially in light of recent polls with unexpectedly good numbers for the Dems. Yesterday’s poll of Harris County, home to Houston, the 4th largest city in America, had Team Clinton up by ten points, up 4 among “extremely lIkely voters.”
The fund-raising event was called “Happy Hour with Tim Kaine,” organized by the regional finance director of Hillary for America.
Thought this might cheer your day.
