If you look up my diary history, you will see that I rarely write diaries anymore. I’m one busy kitten these days, and as much as I might comment on occasion, I just don’t have the time to write the way I usually write, which is to go on and on and on and on… But, it’s not about me. And so, I am winging this diary at the last minute. Because, it’s about all of us. It’s about the unofficial tagline of Daily Kos:
I came for the politics, I stayed for the community.
And nobody exemplifies that sentiment more than our very own quilting sisters, Sara R and winglion. If you are not familiar with all that they have done for us (collectively) over the years, check out this link: www.dailykos.com/…
Moving to Portland recently, I have had the good fortune to not only meet the sisters in person, but to count them among my dear friends. They have been extraordinarily welcoming to me. Before this, I had known Sara for a long time because of Daily Kos. I have experienced firsthand how supportive she is of other artists, from her running of the Kos Katalog for a couple of years (someone new is in charge now… or needs to be). And she was very helpful to me when planning to move here, as well as before my surgery last winter, giving me some much needed advice. I am finally getting to know Ann (winglion) now, as well.
Sara and Ann are two of the sweetest, most genuine, hardworking, funny, and giving people I have ever met. And they need our help now. Their Pootie Pad business needs to grow; not only to give them a means of self-support, but to spread the joy of the various quilts* they create across the country and around the world. This is a home-grown, locally-sourced business, that hopes to grow to the point where they can also hire other local artisans. This is a principle of progressive politics in action! Local, small, original, work created with LOVE. This is an important piece of the world we all want to live in. Let’s support the effort. Let’s support their Kickstarter campaign now. There are only 11 days remaining to meet their goal!
The Pootie Pad Kickstarter is here: www.kickstarter.com/...
*(gorgeous, well-made, sturdy, beautiful, colorful, and sweet-smelling quilts...)
What can you do?
- Money is good. Money is very good. Support the Kickstarter campaign directly by becoming a Backer. Every little bit helps. And there are lovely gifts at each level.
- Spread the word via all your social media, and other personal and business networks.
- Recommend this and the other similar diaries, so that they get more eyes.
What on earth is a Pootie Pad? And/or, Tell me more…
I will let the visual take over from here. I will also mention that this Pootie Pad business is not just for cats, but also for dogs (with lavender and thyme), and for the people who love them (with lap quilts), as well.
Again, here is the link to this very important Kickstarter campaign: www.kickstarter.com/...
