There is one thing that happened during the debate that I am shocked I have not read other people talking about, and quite frankly it’s startling. What I’m talking about is Trump confirming it’s alright to attack foreign ships if they taunt us.
CLINTON: The other day, I saw Donald saying that there were some Iranian sailors on a ship in the waters off of Iran, and they were taunting American sailors who were on a nearby ship. He said, you know, if they taunted our sailors, I'd blow them out of the water and start another war. That's not good judgment.
TRUMP: That would not start a war.
CLINTON: That is not the right temperament to be commander-in- chief, to be taunted. And the worst part...
TRUMP: No, they were taunting us.
That right there should give everybody, even the most deplorable of the deplorable reason to pause.
The economy can be fixed, race relations can be fixed, schools can be fixed, income inequality can be fixed, foreign relations can be fixed. Everything (given a decade or two or twelve) can be fixed: Except an Earth turned into a nuclear wasteland.
A man who thinks that somebody giving you the middle finger is equivalent to a declaration of war absolutely can not be elected to be The President of The United States of America. Period.
I don’t care if the two candidates are Rush Limbaugh and somebody ideologically identical to myself on every issue, but they repeated what Trump just said, my decision is easy. I hold my nose and vote for Rush Limbaugh.
That’s how big of a deal a policy position like that should be. Who cares about a couple zingers here and there or what was and wasn’t a lie. My concern is whether or not our species would survive a Trump presidency.
