One of Donald Trumps many gifts to the Democrats is that every time he sticks his foot in his mouth, he gives it another shove.
During the presidential debate on Monday Hillary Clinton reminded viewers that Donald Trump once referred to a Miss Universe winner as “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping.”
CLINTON: And one of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest. He loves beauty contests, supporting them and hanging around them. And he called this woman "Miss Piggy." Then he called her "Miss Housekeeping," because she was Latina. Donald, she has a name.
TRUMP: Where did you find this? Where did you find this?
CLINTON: Her name is Alicia Machado.
TRUMP: Where did you find this?
A decent person wouldn’t have made those remarks. A smart person wouldn’t have referenced them the day after the debate, instead hoping they’d fade into the background noise. But Trump is neither decent or smart and so there he was on Tuesday morning during an appearance on “Fox and Friends,” not only embracing his remarks, but taking them one step further.
“She (Machado) was the worst we ever had,” he told “Fox and Friends.” “She was a winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and we had a real problem. We had a real problem with her.”
Earlier this year, in an article in the New York Times magazine devoted to instances where Trump went too far with women, he called Machado, the Miss Universe winner:
… an “eating machine” in an interview with Howard Stern and, according the Times report, (and) invited nearly 100 media outlets to watch her exercise in a gym.
“She weighed 118 pounds or 117 pounds and she went to 160 or 170. So this is somebody that likes to eat,” Trump said then.
