One of the things Trump has been best at is capturing his opponents in pithy statements that highlight their weaknesses (whether or not they are true): Little Marco, Lyin’ Ted, and yes, Crooked Hillary.
And because he himself has so many weaknesses, from his lack of education to his racism, misogyny, fraudulent business practices, mob connections, lying, infidelity, pride in tax evasion, bribery, it’s been hard to pin him down.
It’s been particularly hard because he is so differently motivated than most villains. He is a money grubbing attention whore. He is unprincipled. And he is completely shameless, so it is hard to “catch” him at what he really is. He is not the typical KKK leader or Nazi; he is not the typical crazy Christian evangelical; he is not the typically clueless and incompetent politician.
What Hillary and the Dems need are a way to group all his weaknesses under a single image that Americans that rings true, that resonates. What best will do it? Is he the con man from an infomercial? A mobster? A thief?
