You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
I am including the deranged basket of deplorables who populate the Munchkinland where Trump reigns supreme.
I am including the national media, which has only this week woken up to the fact that they are being punked and started to show a shred of self-respect.
I also, with great sadness, include the BoBs and other rabid Sanders supporters who could not be satisfied with keeping our disagreements to those of policy and vision, and instead indulged in spreading — and intensifying — the questioning of Hillary’s fundamental honesty using the email “scandal” as evidence.
Well we finally have a comprehensive account of what actually happened. Here is, in #000000 and #FFFFFF, in Politico. I will save you the time reading the 11,500 words and paraphrase the main conclusion regarding Clinton's conduct:
A government department head, in the twenty-first fucking century, made a perfectly reasonable request to use a single device to read her email.
That’s it. That’s what you hoped she would end up in jail over.
That’s what you used as a cudgel to impugn her integrity to the point where people who never knew a world before Google are still convinced Hillary cannot be trusted and are having trouble deciding between a vaccine truther or someone who has never heard of Aleppo or, apparently, foreign leaders. A certifiable madman is five fucking percentage points away from the White House and the college kids aren't entirely sure he is worse than the caricature of the "Crooked Hillary" that some Democrats were all too happy to reinforce.
I still see stray comments about people not trusting Hillary even though they are going to vote for her, and pointing to this as the case. I still read about 20-somethings who cannot be bothered to read actual facts and instead are still forming their opinions based on the squalid bunk peddled at the end of the primaries and amplified by the lap dog media.
Now of course we are all good friends now, and with the latest rise in polls, I should let bygones go, but I am still flaming pissed about this. Instead of enjoying the calm run-up to Halloween and contemplating taking all three branches of Congress in an historic landslide, I am digging out more money to donate, spending more time spreading the word, and obsessively clicking refresh at the fivethirtyeight poll updates page. All the while the perception of Hillary as untrustworthy persists in spite of her actual character and there is still a very real chance that we will end up kneeling before President Zod next January.
It didn’t have to happen this way.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
