With Labor Day’s arrival, we should take a moment to appreciate the efforts and contributions of American workers.
My father, James, worked in a New York factory where they produced hydraulic filters. He became the shop steward for his United Auto Workers union, which provided decent benefits and security for our family.
This is why I am honored to receive the endorsements of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and SEIU labor unions.
While we have made a lot of progress since the economic crash of 2008, much remains to be done. Like Gov. Tom Wolf, I support efforts to raise the minimum wage. I also wholeheartedly support paid family leave, paid sick leave and the right of all workers to form a union.
At the local level, I will fight for the continued revitalization of our boroughs -- the Main Streets of Trappe, Royersford and Pottstown (High Street). When elected in the 146th, I will be the most persistent and loudest voice in Harrisburg to restore SEPTA passenger rail service between Pottstown and Philadelphia. This would be a huge win for workers stuck in traffic on Route 422.
There will be nine weeks left in this election season after the Labor Day holiday. If you’ve volunteered already, thank you! We have phone banks and canvassing days planned between now and Nov. 8th. Please visit my website to sign up -- www.ciresiforpa.com.
Consider making a donation, in whatever amount you can afford, to help us win this race.
Sincerely,
Joe
