The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) party, the Democratic party in Minnesota, has petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court to remove Donald J. Trump and Michael R. Pence from the November general election ballot.
The names of electors and alternate electors to the Electoral College for major party candidates must, by state law, be selected at a party convention. The Republican Party only selected electors at their convention and neglected to select alternate electors. The Republican State Central Committee at the last minute selected alternate electors and submitted the paperwork to add Trump and Pence to the general election ballot. The suit claims that this violates state law and Trump and Pence must be removed from the ballot.

This could either get really interesting or be a footnote. I have no idea on how the Minnesota Supreme Court will rule on this matter. I also fear negative publicity nationwide if Trump and Pence are removed from the ballot from a technicality in state law.
