Buzzfeed News has this story about Congress passing a law that permits 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia for damages. How nice that Congress is able to do some activity. Apparently this bill is also controversial, and perhaps requires more negotiation, but for political reasons the bill is now active.
The Zika funding and perhaps other priorities important to a much larger U.S. Citizens constituency of the U.S. Congress are being postponed not because they are controversial, but for political reasons. Perhaps the representatives of the people should be held accountable for the priorities they choose. I cannot believe that the Democrats are going along with Republicans to encourage this type of priority.
Democrats should object to this type of priority setting. I suggest attaching the full text of the version of the Zika Funding Bill to this legislation recommended by the CDC and NIH. If that is voted down by the majority, then for political reasons the Democrats should require that this bill be postponed until after the Zika Funding is provided or after the election, whichever is sooner.
Just my $0.02. U.S. Representatives, U.S. Senators … Do Your Job!!!!!!
Unfortunately, I am not able to stick around. Other priorities await.
