Donald Trump launched an attack on the independent judiciary on Sunday because a judge dared to rule against his Muslim ban. And while it’s always a bad idea to throw Hitler comparisons around too easily, it’s a worse idea to start sounding like you envy Hitler’s way of doing things:
This being the United States, Trump cannot (yet) dismiss judges at any time for any reason, or even at all. But he’s made it clear—more than once, now—that he wishes he could and doesn’t really understand why a judge can stand in his way. That’s a frightening sign of how he wants to govern.
