NBC News broke into the Tillerson hearing briefly for a finding (I believe from Kelly O’Donnell) that the 2-page addendum was added as an example of the difference between raw, unverified intelligence and intelligence that had been vetted and thoroughly analyzed by intelligence officials. This was to be provided to Trump in the event that Trump could, or would not acknowledge or understand the difference between the two. In other words, it was to be used by Clapper as an instructional aid of sorts, but evidently was not needed once the briefing commenced. The allegations themselves have been floating around for several months, and have come from what are considered reliable sources, but still need further investigation. (Please add tags as needed.)
