Rep. John Lewis on "Meet the Press" with Chuck Todd stating that Donald Trump will not be a Legitimate President!
This week on “Meet the Press” with Chuck Todd he conducted an interview with Rep. John Lewis, an American Civil Rights Icon. When Chuck Todd asked him if he would have a working relationship with Trump he said that he believes in forgiveness, but added, "it's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president." I am in total agreement with Rep. Lewis. That is why I have written this blog asking everyone to use the hashtag #illegitimatePresident especially when using @realDonaldTrump in a tweet and make it the top trending hashtag. As Democrats we saw Donald Trump ask Russia to hack Hillary Clinton and release her 30,000 e-mails and miraculously they were released immediately. Coincidence??? I don’t think so.
Trump, with all his extensive vocabulary, bellowed “I Love Wikileaks” at every chance he got. When the DNC e-mails and then John Podesta’s e-mails were hacked Trump continued to implore Wikileaks to release more and drooled all over himself every time another batch of e-mails was released. Sadly so much of the media just lapped them up.
When Rep. Lewis stated "I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton," we all know that he was correct in his statement.
Trump appeared to acknowledge this week that Russia did engage in hacking during the campaign, but he has vigorously argued that any foreign interference had no impact on the election's outcome. Even though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by almost 3 million more votes than Trump.
With John Lewis getting ready to turn 77 (his birthday is 6 days before mine) on February 21st he has become one of our national treasures and a Civil Rights Icon who marched right along with Martin Luther King who we celebrate tomorrow January 16th! Lewis was presented with the “Presidential Medal of Freedom” in 2010 for all the important work he has done throughout his life.
Here is a brief history of John Lewis, who as chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was one of the "Big Six" leaders of groups who organized the 1963 March on Washington, played many key roles in the Civil Rights Movement and its actions to end legalized racial segregation in the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, Lewis is a member of the Democratic leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives and has served as a Chief Deputy Whip since 1991 and Senior Chief Deputy Whip since 2003. Everyone should read the entire history of John Lewis and his lifelong struggle and fight for the rights of not only African Americans, Voting Rights but also LGBTQ Rights. He is truly a man of and for All People.
This week Michael Moore agreed and defended Lewis publicly with 6 reasons he believes Trump is not a legitimate President. Moore questioned Trump’s mental stability, pointing out his behavior on Twitter.
“He is not well and needs help. He has a number of serious mental disorders that make him unfit to hold office — and they are on display every day in one cringe-worthy tweet after another. He is a full-blown malignant narcissist. He displays sociopathic tendencies. He will say one thing and 30 seconds later say the opposite. He is disconnected from the truth. And he has a stunning lack of human empathy. These behaviors make him a truly dangerous occupant of the Oval Office.”
Thirdly, in total agreement with Lewis, Moore said that the Russian government had interfered in the 2016 presidential race to change the outcome of the election.
“The Russians interfered with the election in order to get him elected. Even Trump now admits as much. That alone makes the election tainted and should be voided. We spend trillions on ridiculous weapons and ineffective police state-style homeland security measures to defend us against those who would ‘destroy our way of life’ — but we are to remain silent when a foreign government is caught trying to get THEIR candidate elected as OUR president? AND they succeed! This is a joke of monstrous proportions — and the fact that conservatives, Republicans and patriotic good ol’ boys are actively defending this foreign aggression into our country confirms to me what I’ve feared all along: that they really hate our form of democracy, our Bill of Rights, our belief that ‘All men (sic) are created equal,’ our one person-one vote system, that whoever scores the most points wins and that people of all religions are welcome here. They don’t believe that, and I’d respect them so much more if they would just simply admit it.”
Moore also accused Comey and the FBI of interfering the 2016 presidential race.
“The FBI clearly chose sides, and FBI Director Comey’s interference in the 10 days before the election most-definitely helped tipped the balance to the FBI’s preferred candidate, Donald J. Trump. That our own federal police would so brazenly attempt to throw the election to the person with the least votes is mind-boggling, frightening and must be stopped. Attorney General Lynch must immediately, today, appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate what to me appears to be a criminal offense. If this is true, I want to see FBI Director Comey in handcuffs and behind bars. Short of murder and a few other heinous acts, is there a worse crime in our democracy than the highest ranking cop in the land attempting to throw the election?”
Moore’s fifth point said Trump’s Secretary of State nominee would enrich himself by dropping sanctions on Russia which would lift the drilling sanctions that are currently in place.
“Trump has nominated in Rex Tillerson the most powerful corporate CEO in the world as “our” Secretary of State. Why would the quarter-billionaire head of the world’s richest corporation want a “government job?” So that he, a personal friend of Putin’s, can get the US sanctions lifted off Russia so that his company, ExxonMobil, can get back to their exclusive oil deal with Russia — which will eventually net ExxonMobil three TRILLION dollars. This is nothing less than a bold, audacious robbery in broad daylight — and it says a lot about you and me that they think they can get away with it.”
And the last reason Moore said Trump would not be a “legitimate” president is because he allegedly was a criminal.
“Trump has potentially committed a number of felonies — and a felon simply can’t sit in the Oval Office (I can’t believe I even have to state that). From his admitted sexual assaults to whatever he’s hiding in the tax returns, to possibly evading taxes, to his committing fraud with Trump U, to his long list of conflicts of interest — the chance of us having to suffer through his impeachment trial in the Senate is just too much to bear.”
Worst of all was when Trump tweeted out these two tweets on January 14th attacking Congressman Lewis and his very large district in Atlanta stating what horrible shape his district in. We all know Donald Trump get’s his news from FOX, Breitbart News, Tabloids and the Saturday Morning Cartoons.
I assure you Donald Trump has no clue of what all Rep. John Lewis has done for this country and most likely will never educate himself on the historic movements Lewis has been and still continues to be involved with in our country.

These are not the statements of a man that has respect for the history of Civil Rights to tweet these out on Martin Luther King weekend. These are not statements treating Congressman Lewis with the dignity that he deserves.
These are not the comments of a “Legitimate President”!
Trump will always be the #illegitimatePresident in my eyes. But for the assistance of Russia, Julian Assange, James Comey and the FBI Hillary Clinton would be our next President being sworn in this week. The only candidate befitting the White House. The only candidate with Dignity, Experience, Knowledge of world politics and their leaders and the only candidate that truly represents America.
So I ask everyone to use the hashtag #illegitimatePresident in all of your tweet this upcoming week. Let’s make #illegitimatePresident attached to @realDonaldTrump trend this week. This will be the undoing of Trump mentally. Trump knows the majority of Americans do not consider him their President. The majority of us believe he will be impeached based solely on his refusal to divest himself from all of his properties and ignore the emoluments clause.
