So many of us arrived at the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday that it was impossible for the majority to get anywhere near the stage or even to a Jumbotron. As a result, we could neither hear nor see the presentations. But none of us minded. In fact, it was great to know that we had flooded the Mall beyond capacity.
Video camera in hand, I wandered among the crowd, capturing the joy, determination, comradery and high spirits of the event. People organized spontaneously, creating and joining in chants, marching along routes that hadn’t been planned, creating performance circles … all metaphors for the journeys ahead that we must create together to build an inclusive and truly great America.
So these 13 minutes contain NO speeches or staged events, just people power in its purest and best forms.
