Any Italian American generally aware of the vicious discrimination Italians in the United States faced in the late nineteenth and well into twentieth centuries, and aware in particular of how so many Italian immigrants were automatically assumed to be communists or anarchist bombers – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Any Jewish American generally aware of America's vicious and anti-Semitic refugee policies in the 1930s and aware in particular of the tragic voyage of the SS St. Louis – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Any Asian American generally aware of the horrible prejudice against Asians when they began arriving in large numbers after the Civil War, and aware in particular of the Chinese Exclusion Act (1882) and the Japanese Exclusion League (formed in 1905) – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Any American with ancestors from southern and eastern Europe generally aware of the wicked prejudice in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries against Russians, Poles, Greeks, Jews, Italians and others because they supposedly came from radical spawning grounds, and aware in particular of the disgraceful Immigration Act of 1924 that set up an immigration quota system blatantly favorable to western Europeans and discriminatory towards southern and eastern Europeans – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Any Irish American generally aware of the hatred the Irish received from Anglo Americans when fleeing the Potato Famine in the 1840s, and aware in particular that for the next century signs saying "Irish/Catholics Need Not Apply" dotted the big cities of the east coast – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Any American who in general has learned nothing from history, and in particular believes that Muslims and Mexicans are somehow different from the immigrants of the past who came from so many places and backgrounds to collectively form the core of what our nation stands for – and you still support Trump's immigration/refugee policies – take a hard look at yourself in the mirror.
Then you better step back. A lot of those mirrors are going to crack.
