Renee Wetzel’s husband Michael was one of the victims gunned down by radicalized Islamic terrorists during the San Bernardino massacre on December 2, 2015. Fourteen people died and 22 were injured. Michael Wetzel worked for the San Bernardino environmental health department when his life was taken tragically. Some would think Wendy, his widow, would have reason to side with Donald Trump’s Muslim ban. She doesn’t, and she’s letting the country know. Her meme/image is appearing on a plethora of Facebook pages and groups, often without her name, garnering thousands of likes/shares. Along with her meme, Wetzel made a Facebook post most likely in response to a statement made earlier in the day by Press Secretary Spicer after he used the San Bernardino shooting to justify banning 220 million people.
Here is an excerpt from Renee Wetzel’s Facebook Page:
"This has been heavy on my heart the last few days and I have felt the need to say something. As the widow of someone who was murdered by terrorists, I can understand that sometimes it is easy to give into your fears and to want to blame someone or something for what is happening. However, regardless of your political leanings, Trump closing our borders to certain countries is a basic human rights issue. Banning entire groups of people whose only crime is where they were born is not the right answer. This is against everything our country stands for."

Written on her poster:
My husband was murdered in the San Bernardino terrorist attack by radicalized Islamic terrorists. I do not support Trump’s immigration freeze. #ChooseLove
Millions around the world grieve the loss of lives in terrorist attacks. And our hearts go out to victims who still suffer physically and emotionally, as well as the surviving families/friends. Thank you to Renee Wetzel, for explaining to Trump and the world that ISIS terrorists do not represent Muslims — just as Donald Trump, KKK terrorists and Christian terrorists do not represent Christians. It’s encouraging to see the diversity of those who are speaking out against Trump and his discriminatory, divisive and hate-filled rhetoric and policies. Renee Wetzel is yet another great example of truth and #Resistance.
