Political analyst James Carville who was the lead strategist in Bill Clinton’s successful presidential bid got it right when he asserted in late October of this year that the FBI, the KGB and the GOP were in cahoots with each other and that they were trying to hijack the election. He stated clearly and in no uncertain terms that “American democracy was under attack” in an MSNBC interview.
The FBI, the KGB and the GOP were not only in cahoots but they had orchestrated an unholy trinity to rob America of its democracy and they have succeeded. On January 20th their puppet will be installed into power. A puppet who won by a mere 80,000 vote difference against a 2.9 million popular vote lead.
Carville’s assertions at the time were treated with ridicule and with claims of hyperbole. He was referred to as a partisan hack who was having a meltdown, a blow up, by spewing wild conspiracy theories.
Carville sounded his dire warnings after reports appeared of FBI director James Comey’s Oct 28th letter to congress about Hillary Clinton’s emails.
According to the NY Times:
In the letter, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said that new emails had surfaced in a case unrelated to the closed investigation into whether Hillary Clinton or her aides had mishandled classified information, and that the messages “appear to be pertinent to the investigation.” OCT. 28, 2016
As we all know this was an eleventh hour bomb shell that functioned as Clinton’s October Surprise. James Carville’s response was to sound the warning that this was a coordinated attack by the GOP to derail Clinton’s presidential election prospects.
At a recent book fair in Miami James Carville said “You should be very scared of a Trump presidency” and “this is going to be a gigantic civics lesson”.
Carville has rightly identified that we as a nation do not seek unity, we are divided in the extreme. There is nothing that will bring us together as a people. Our hope was in principled leadership guided by the fundamental principles of our democracy. Yes the KGB, the FBI and the GOP were in cahoots but a large portion of the American voting public seem to be okay with that. Our U.S. democracy is dead in the water and it’s only just beginning to stink. We can’t raise the dead but we can give birth to a new democracy.
