A commonly heard phrase is, “Why should the healthy have to pay for the sick?” This translates roughly to, why should I pay taxers for services that I don’t use (or more accurately, public services that I don’t realize I use?)
Such as it is with guns. Nevada in particular has some of the laxest gun regulations in the country. With that lack of regulations comes more violence and gun-related accidents. Violence and accidents tax us all by increasing demand on both law enforcement and healthcare.
Increased surveillance and security of public facilities represents an implied “tax” that is baked into our cost of doing business there — metal detectors and personnel cost us all in the form of increased fees, fares, insurance premiums, law enforcement...there are thousands of ways that WE pay for THEIR right to bear arms.
