It would seem that House leadership is at least considering not holding a vote on removing restrictions on the sale of gun silencers. Maybe. They remain, however, determined to hold that vote in the near future.
Too bad we can't get the NRA to champion children's health, because that's a vote that doesn't seem to be on their priority list, despite the fact that funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program expired Saturday. And that 10 states are going to run out of money to cover children by the end of December. Another 22 will run out of funding within six months.
It's not like the Republican Congress can't act quickly when they're really motivated. They managed to roll back President Obama's restrictions on sales of guns to severely mentally ill people in the first month of the new session.
Maybe if every child getting federal health assistance got a free handgun along with their health care Republicans could be bothered to prioritize it.
