We need meaningful, common-sense gun regulation in this country. It’s time to start talking about banning all semi-automatic weapons.
There's no reason anybody needs a semi-automatic weapon. You can keep your shotguns and revolvers and bolt-action deer rifles. You still can kill forest animals, blow birds out of the sky, play Russian roulette, blast away at home invaders and murder people from the observation deck of a clock tower. You just won't be able to do it as quickly and easily, and you certainly won't be able to do it as quickly and easily as you can if you convert your semi-automatic rifle to a fully-automatic rifle. Without a semi- or fully-automatic weapon you'll just have to choose targets more carefully, aim better, and accept that you're going to kill at a slower pace.
Think of it as enforcing a higher standard of sportsmanship, if that helps. If killing is too easy, there's no sport in it. When there's no sport in it, where's the fun?
