The Yanks Air Museum is located in Chino,California. In 1973, this collection of aircraft began with the acquisition of the Beech Staggerwing and since then the museum has acquired more than 200 aircraft. Many of the aircraft displayed at the museum are one-of-a-kind (usually meaning the last remaining example) and most of them can be flown. Shown below are some of the helicopters which are on display.
HUM-1 (MC-4A)
This aircraft was first produced in 1953. It has a top speed of 105 mph, a cruising speed of 85 mph, and a range of 200 miles. This is the first tandem-rotor helicopter certified for commercial use in the United States. Only two were built.
Bell Model 47D-1 (OH-13E)
This scout/medical evacuation helicopter was first produced in 1946. It has a top speed of 100 mph, a cruising speed of 80 mph, and a range of 212 miles. This MASH-type helicopter has two stretcher pods for evacuating the wounded.
UH-1H Iroquois (Huey)
First produced by Bell in 1956, this helicopter was a top speed of 143 mph, a cruising speed of 125 mph, and a range of 315 miles. During the Vietnam War, the Huey was a military workhorse.
AH-1F Cobra
First produced by Bell in 1967, this attack helicopter has a top speed of 196 mph and a range of 315 miles.
