Received this e-mail today Khizar Khan, father of Gold Star United States Army Captain Humayun Khan, in support of Phil Murphy’s (D. NJ) gubernatorial campaign:
If it were up to President Trump, my family would not have been allowed into this country.
When he won, I was sad and heartbroken. I still am. But my faith in the goodness of this country, in the values of this country, are stronger now than ever before. And it's because of the emergence of leaders like Phil Murphy.
Electing strong, progressive leaders like Phil is more important than ever now that President Trump has been elected. That's why I'm going to New Jersey tomorrow to support him.
Can you join me in supporting Phil's campaign to be the next New Jersey governor and pitch in $3 or more to help him on November 7?
Our incredible democracy demands that we all participate in the process of elections to make our democracy strong under these challenging times -- contributions to support those who represent you is very much part of democracy.
And it means that citizens like you and me are called to participate in our elections by making sure we get as many people out to the polls to vote as possible.
So contribute $3 or more to support Phil to make his get-out-the-vote program strong on Election Day -- together we can make our democracy and our nation stronger.
Thank you,
Khizr Khan
