So, it isn’t really surprising that the company that “won” the 300 million dollar contract to restore electricity to Puerto Rico is just as horrible and abrasive as the people that chose them for the job.
Apparently asking for transparency is just more than the poor snowflakes could take. This is unacceptable and it needs to stop now. These people are being paid 300 million of our tax dollars to do a goddamned job and they need to stfu and do it. They must get their work ethic from POTUS. Spending time arguing with people on Twitter that hurt their feelings instead of doing the job they were hired to do.
Another thing that I can’t seem to get answers on is what these employees are actually being paid. They are charging taxpayers 300/hr for linemen. From the (pdf warning) IBEW contract that I found for one of the subcontractors they are using that is six times what those linemen are contracted for. Now, they may have a different contract for this work but I highly doubt the workers are seeing even half of that. I have called both their contact numbers but no answer at either and have sent a message to them at their website inquiring about pay and what locals and subcontractors they are using. No reply as of yet.
I wanted to add that I have some knowledge of these type of things. My husband is an IBEW Journeyman/Wireman. While he is not a Lineman he has worked with them and the Journeyman also go to disaster areas once the Linemen get in and restore the lines. I called and picked my husband’s brain and he said they are no way making 300 hr. How much this company is skimming off the top is the question.
Whitefish Energy has issued an apology
In other words- They hired a PR firm. Not good enough.
