While this year has been better than last year at work, and I’m contributing more and enjoying my job more, every now and then I get tasked with something that is necessary, but tedious. I try listening to interesting audiobooks, or upbeat music playlists; watching kitten cams; getting up periodically and walking around; drinking copious amounts of caffeine and eating disgusting amounts of sugar; browsing the internet … etc. And sometimes, even while doing all of these, I’m still in danger of falling asleep. Today has been one such day. I woke up early this morning after a good night’s sleep, so I know it’s not physical tiredness; but my brain is very much not engaged in the task I’m supposed to be working on.
Thankfully by the time this posts, my work day will be over. Unfortunately, it seems as though the task will be continued into tomorrow. So, have any methods for beating the boredom bug and keeping yourself awake during tedious tasks?
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by and tell us about your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper. Newcomers may notice that many who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
Some updates:
- I’m feeling much better compared to last week; thanks for all the well wishes.
- The vet is really pleased with how well DC is responding to his Chemo treatments. We’re a bit over 25% of the way through with them so far.
- There’s a new Kos Katalogue mothership diary — please bookmark & use for your shopping needs. There are some Kibitzers in there! ;-)
As always, this is an open thread and nothing is off topic. What do you want to kibitz about tonight?
