They’re saying that they had “no clues” about motives or had not way of knowing that the Las Vegas shooter might be a threat to society, but does anyone else see the flawed logic here.
Legally and under existing gun laws, the guy bought 3 dozen rifles, as well as devices to turn them into automatic weapons, as well as 100’s of pounds of ammunition. But, our esteemed intelligence community, who will eavesdrop on just about anything, noticed nothing out of the ordinary here? “No clues” that a guy who went out and bought 33 rifles in a year, might be a threat?.
“No clues” that a guy who wired $100,000 overseas just before the incident might be up to something? No “clue” that he might be somebody worth including in some of their wide-ranging surveillance?
Oh that’s right.. they had no clue because, it turns out, you CAN buy all those guns without law enforcement being notified about it. Because— you know — buying 33 f’ing guns in a year might be suspicious and all, but we don’t really want to inconvenience these good Americans by keeping a closer eye on them even when — out of the blue — they just decide to load up with enough guns to start a war.
And apparently the right to privacy of guys wanting to buy really, really suspicious numbers of people-killing devices is a lot more important than those 58 people who lost their lives in Las Vegas.
And apparently we’re not even supposed to talk about this, because politics is too hard and hurts peoples feelings.
No clue, indeed.
