I have noticed that many people on this site have compared Roy Moore to pond scum, and have heard a rumor that the Wikipedia page about pond scum currently has a picture of Roy Moore.*
In fact the planktonic algae that is commonly known as pond scum is a valuable part of the ecosystem in ponds and estuaries, providing food to several types of fish, shrimp, and frogs, all of which are probably too smart to eat Mr. Moore, though we might round up a few piranha and try the experiment should the opportunity present itself. Some varieties of planktonic algae such as chlorella contain vitamins, protein, and fatty acids, and are sometimes used as a food supplement. There are experiments involving processing these types of algae as human food, so pond scum may have a future benefit to humanity. This is obviously not the case for Mr. Moore. If pond scum had feelings, I am sure it would be wounded by the comparison. Please be sensitive in this matter.
*Excuse me, that was a typographical error. I meant to say I have started a rumor that the Wikipedia page about pond scum has a picture of Roy Moore. Of course now that the idea is out there, I am sure it will soon. I’ll be checking every few minutes to see how long it takes.
