Donald Trump finally speaks—sort of—on sexual predator Roy Moore. Of course, Trump didn’t say anything himself. He had his press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, offer up this word salad:
“The president believes that these allegations are very troubling and should be taken seriously, and he thinks that the people of Alabama should make the decision on who their next senator should be.”
It’s troubling and we should take it seriously that Roy Moore spent his 30s trolling malls for teenager girls and occasionally molesting a 14-year-old or attempting to rape a 16-year-old, but that’s no reason for the leader of the Republican Party to suggest that perhaps Moore is not an appropriate Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.
