Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Jon Tester’s (D. MT) re-election campaign:
I’m a father and a grandfather. I know firsthand how important it is to make sure your children have the best possible education.
I’m also a former teacher and school board member. I know what it’s like to try and do everything in your power to provide the best education to your students.
And I’m a Montanan. My wife Sharla and I both are proud products of Montana public schools. My grandkids go to Montana public schools. We all know how vital it is that our schools have the resources and support they need to provide a safe and enriching learning environment for our children.
Most of you probably know me as Montana’s Senator. I voted against Betsy DeVos to head the Department of Education. I could not support her history of prioritizing private institutions over public education.
And now that she’s in office, she’s taken a number of steps which have jeopardized funding for rural schools and targeted students trying to pay off their loans.
Make sure Secretary DeVos knows that whatever moves she makes, we’ll be there to hold her accountable. Stand up for our children and stand up for their future. Add your name.
Thanks,
Jon
