I have written before about some experiences I have had on Facebook. I am not wild about it, in general. I do like the sharing of funny or very intelligent material. I enjoy some contact with family and friends that wouldn’t have happened otherwise in the same time or way. Like so many things in our world, there are good and bad aspects. But tonight I am writing about a WaPo article shared by my good friend, Tom, about a group of women in a deeply red section of Virginia. They played a key role in the election of a Democratic governor in a state where that was sorely needed.
More below.

It started, without their even knowing it, with the outrage of one woman on the night of THAT election.
From the article:
On the night Trump won the presidency, Kim Drew Wright became so infuriated that she took a Sharpie and, on poster board, compared the Republican mogul to a slang word for the male sex organ, and added: “And so are you if you voted for him.”
Shortly after, she posted an invitation on Pantsuit Nation for like-minded women women to “meet at a local tavern to share their angst over Trump.”
In her first-ever speech to her new friends, that night, she told them “that she hated Trump with the white-hot passion of a billion suns.” She urged everyone to “connect with others” and “know that you are not alone.”
And they fought. They fought, and, before long, The Liberal Women of Chesterfield County had played their role in the election of Ralph Northam to the governorship of Virginia.
The best news? They’re not done. They’re only beginning.
I smiled about it all again this evening. When I read a diary about mounting a Democratic challenge in EVERY Texas state house race. Mirroring, in its way, the power of the idea of the 50 state strategy. Because, as you know, there are those in our party who would have argued that resources used in Chesterfield County would be wasted, frittered away.
Yet, they won. They helped Democrats win in Virginia. They helped a Democrat in another deeply red Southern area find heart, and sustenance, and renewed energy. And so I am sharing their story with you tonight, in the hope that it may be passed on to liberal women in your acquaintance, honoring their power, their strength, their great innate wisdom. In the hope that they, too, will answer the call. With … #metoo
Thank you for reading.
And thanks to the Kim Drew Wright and The Liberal Women of Chesterfield County from the bottom of my heart.
On to tonight’s comments! Formatted by brillig! Another terrific liberal woman I care to honor tonight.

My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down. From Laura Clawson’s Trump now denies 'grab 'em by the pussy' recording was him, because that's how big a liar he is comes this wonderful little thread begun by exlrrp and continued by Lilyvt and JTML on what to expect about The Tax Returns.
From both 4CasandChlo and ozsea1:
From 4CasandChlo’s diary Eisenhower Warned Us About MUCH MORE than WE Know. Movement Conservatism, Trump, Fascism ... comes this comment by kurious.
From Vwrtb1177:
Nominated this comment by Sher Watts Spooner, from Murfster35's It's official. Roy Moore defending has hit rock bottom. Really? Ringo Starr?
From peregrine kate:
I'd like to nominate this fine comment by elfling. The post under which she is commenting is a review of the book Weapons of Math Destruction, which from the depiction provided by angryea is just about a must-read for any of us with an interest in the power of the algorithms used in Big Data (and in small data applications as well) to shape our public and private lives. It's a vital conversation that we as a culture should be conducting -- but at least we as a website community could be carrying it forward until everyone else catches up.
