I’m an ironworker.
Ironworkers work hard for our money. We take contract jobs. Short term, often unstable, work. We put our blood, sweat, and tears into building America so that we can scrape by and put food on the table.
But Paul Ryan and his allies are once again trying to attack me for being a working person who has struggled at times to make ends meet.
Chip in $3 or more now to help me fight back against Paul Ryan’s vicious attacks and make sure every voter in WI-01 knows they can count on me to fight for them because I am one of them.
More than half of all members of Congress are millionaires. And they're led by a multi-millionaire, Paul Ryan, who is dead set on jamming through yet another tax cut for the ultrarich and massive corporations, which includes -- no joke -- a tax cut for owners of private jets.
Working families like mine would bear the cost of that tax cut. The Congressional Budget Office says that almost immediately, working families making less than $30,000 a year will pay more, and within ten years, Ryan's plan will cost more for families making less than $75,000 a year. This while the rich get bigger and bigger tax breaks.
I get it. Paul Ryan is a multi-millionaire. There’s a lot of money to be made telling rich people they deserve more money. But I think that Wisconsin, and our nation, needs a representative who understands what working people go through.
The sad truth is that more than 50% of Americans have less than $1,000 in their bank account. I know what tough times are like because I have been through bankruptcy. I have struggled with medical debt. I have had to both borrow and lend money so that my family can make it through economic hardships.
So now, while trying to raise the deficit by $1.4 trillion to give a huge tax break to their wealthy donors, Paul Ryan and his allies are attacking me for facing those same economic hardships that millions of working people face, having fallen behind on bills and having had to borrow money.
But I think I’ve figured it out. According to Donald Trump and the right wing, serial sexual predators like Roy Moore belong in the Senate, but working people who have lived paycheck to paycheck have no place in Congress.
Fair enough.
I’m not going to vote to give massive corporations earning record profits a tax break. I’m not going to vote in favor of taking billions of dollars away from working people or for taking away health insurance from 23 million Americans. I’m going to fight for the things that help all of us. Affordable health care. Good paying jobs. Clean air and water.
Paul Ryan and his corporate donors are going to spend millions of dollars to try and defeat our people-powered campaign, but with your support, they don’t stand a chance — chip in $3 or more now.
I’m not going to let Paul Ryan shame me for having gone through experiences shared by tens of millions of Americans. It’s about time we had a representative who knows what real Americans are suffering through thanks to their policies. Not a representative who’s trying to give more than a trillion dollars to their corporate donors at our expense.
Thank you,
Randy Bryce
