Black women vote—and bring home wins in Virginia

Yesterday, before the election results were in, the title of my commentary in Black Kos was “Black women are the backbone of the Democratic Party.”  I used the photo above. It fits for today as well.

I was not surprised when I saw these tweets about Virginia election results:

I would suggest that Democrats should pay attention, as Joy suggested. Instead of running away from what has been disparagingly portrayed as “identity politics,” folks need to pay attention to our identity and embrace it.
