It’s not what I applied for, and will involve WAY less standing than the Customer Service Reception position for which I “Work Interviewed.” For those who didn’t see my last diary, I was concerned because the people at reception stand full time — with occasional trips to exam rooms or to find specific veterinarians.
Here is the email response I received an hour ago (It was in response to a ‘thank you’ email I’d sent the HR person who set up my original interview.)
We appreciate your gratitude and are happy to interview anyone who is excited about a position with our hospital and shows potential for the available position. After your interview process, we have evaluated your skills and experience and feel like the phone operator position we have open may suit you. If you are interested in this position, you will not have to go through another interview process. I am going to attach the job description below and if this sounds like something you may be interested in, please let me know.
(Description of full time phone operator job follows.)
I AM SO EXCITED!!! I am just waiting to find out my ‘next steps’, after expressing my interest in this position. Once I know more, I’ll either update here or post another diary.
I invited a couple of people who have supported me through messages and email and such, so I want to take a second to say… HI BFitzinAR. We really miss you a lot.
Edited at 4:10 Central Time to say: I definitely have the job. While it was listed with a significantly lower starting salary than the Customer Service Rep, and I requested $0.75/hr more than the high end of the phone operator’s salary, that is what I’ve been offered. I’m glad, because it’s a long drive to the southern suburbs!
I am waiting to learn when I will have orientation, if I need anything beyond my birth certificate, social security card and driver’s license, whether they will request a drug test, and how soon I can start.
Warning: I am going to have to write again soon, asking for money to help with gas, until my first full paycheck. Things should be a LOT better after I get some money back in the bank — and while I’d love for that to be by the end of December, I think by the end of January is a more realistic time frame.
Edited at 5:10 Central Time to say: I have orientation at 10 am on Monday. I will get my work hours after accepting that orientation, or maybe at(?) the orientation. I am really hoping I start next week.
Edited at 5:30 Central Time to say: I’ll be leaving for tonight’s PAD’s site very soon. Thank you for all of the good wishes. And, since a couple of people have asked, and a couple others have all ready PayPal’d — as noted in comments, below — if you’d like to contribute toward gasoline money (oh! and possibly, toll) money to help get me to and from work, my Pay Pal account is connected to my email: sheddhead@sbcglobal.net — if you’d prefer snail mail, please send a private message for the address.
