Mike Huckabee’s daughter gets up in front of the press most days and serves as Donald Trump’s mouthpiece, often explicitly attacking other women—though not as often as she attacks facts and reality. To Huckabee, though, the fact that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a woman should insulate her from criticism from any other woman. Because feminism.
"She deserves better from other women. And it just amazes me that even the women who say they are feminists are doing everything they can to discredit my daughter," Mike Huckabee said Wednesday on Fox's "The Story with Martha MacCallum."
Huckabee was specifically responding to MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski’s recent criticism of Sanders for laughably claiming that when Trump attacked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand as “begging” for contributions for which she “would do anything,” it wasn’t sexist, sexualized language. It’s a little weird to see Mike Huckabee citing feminism at all, but of course he’s doing it to suggest that feminists (which, Mika Brzezinski?) are dishonest traitors to womankind.
Uh, Mike … when a woman—your daughter—gets up and lies her ass off every day to support Donald Trump’s giant ego and horrific policies and insistence that women he’s groped and sexually harassed are liars, criticizing her is not in any way anti-feminist. Feminists certainly shouldn’t attack Sanders on her looks, but the substance of her public statements is more than fair game. Feminism doesn’t mean “all women get a pass on everything,” and it’s not yours to use as a clumsy weapon.
