The Museum of the Great Lakes, in Toledo OH, contains artifacts illustrating the history of shipping on the Great Lakes. But the centerpiece is the bulk carrier “James F Schoonmaker”, built in 1911. For many years she was the longest ship on the Great Lakes. Today she floats in the Maumee River as a museum ship.
