Of all the crazy ass things that have been wrought by the administration in the past week, one story stands out for me. That would be the directive to the CDC banning the use of seven words in budget documents for the upcoming year. Like most of you, I felt the ghost of George Carlin tickling my funny bone. On the one hand, there’s no way this administration is that smart (or funny) to steal the title of the Carlin bit. On the other hand, satire is just way too hard these days. Amirite?
But first, a word from our sponsors ...

The Seven Words:
- vulnerable
- entitlement
- diversity
- transgender
- fetus
- evidence-based
- science-based
So the first thing I find myself thinking is that an administration, any administration, has no right to ban scientists from using any terms in budget documents or anywhere else. Who the hell do they think they are? But of course we know what they think they are. Despots and tyrants and dictators.
Of course we know them to be petty despots, tyrants, and dictators but I don’t think they see that. The Trumps et. al. see themselves as Randian supermen who are the winners at life. They actually believe that they deserve all the money and power that this ridiculous tax plan and the Electoral College have given them.
This move is just one more brick in the wall of the monument to indecency and inadequacy that will be the legacy of this administration. Hopefully, it will one day crumble like the empire of Ozymandius into the desert.
Look upon my works ye mighty, and tremble
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
