Haven't seen anything about this.
This morning at 7:40, a brand new Amtrak run jumped the tracks and went off a bridge and onto southbound I-5. This is at the county line between Tacoma and Olympia, in Washington State. Highway completely blocked. 78 passengers on board, 77 injured transferred to hospitals. There are at least 3 fatalities. The train cars hit a semi truck and three passenger cars. This stretch of I-5 Is heavily traveled and there are few routes around this section. The southbound section will be closed at least all day.
Ongoing news at King5, the local NBC outlet.
Tracks and railbed were new and they say were extensively tested.
Can't wait to hear who 45 will blame for this.
For info about people who may be involved call 1-800-523- 9101. Uninjured passengers are taken to the DuPont City Hall.
Update: 45 tweets some BS about "aging infrastructure." Again: brand new tracks, new rail beds, highly tested.
Fatality count now at 6.
