I was driving up Hwy 99 north of Visalia, CA. If you are not familiar with the area, it is one of the red parts of California, as well as being very agricultural.
Along the road were all sorts of signs, some unintentionally funny: Solve the water crisis. Of course, there was no solution except building dams. I’m not sure how that would solve the problem, since if there is no water coming down, there would be no water to store. The last time I drove in the area, Nancy Pelosi was being blamed for the water crisis. Again, what is her involvement in the water issue?
Some other signs were a bit more obscure: Medi-Cal saves lives. Medi-Cal is California’s version of Medicaid. So that is a true sign. And good to see in this very red section of CA. Not sure why so many signs were out on 99 (about 1 every 5 miles).
However, the sign that really caught my attention as a big sign that said: Vote to Make California Great Again.
So, musing while I was driving that long, long road, I started thinking about what it could mean. Vote to Make California Kansas was the first thing that splattered into my mind. Why would the local agricultural giants (and most of the area is corporate farms) want to make CA into KS. I think we all know why. But I wondered if they really knew what they were writing. If they were agreeing with Trump’s MAGA, who would actually do the work on the farms. Some of them are people intensive and if we banned migrants, I can’t think of a whole lot of people who would want to do it.
Such were my musings on this weird statement.
Then I started thinking of what I would vote for, for the state to be even greater. First would be, get rid of the Delta tunnels. Second would be to get rid of fracking. Third would be to fix the f**king ((&(*^%&(*&(*& roads (Hwy 99 gets a lot of truck traffic and it absolutely destroys the concrete road).
After that, I couldn’t think of a whole lot of things that needed to be fixed for CA to continue to be great. I would like to see a rewrite of the book “Last Days of the Late, Great State of California.”
If any of you have suggestions of how CA could be greater, let me know.
