House Republicans have done it. They've passed Trump's tax cut by a vote of 227-203. They did it on this promise from House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Fat chance, Mr. Ryan. How bad is this tax cut bill? This one is even more skewed to help the rich than the Bush tax cuts were. Those delivered a mere 27 percent of the benefits to the top 1 percent. This bill gives almost 83 percent of the benefit to the top earners.
And, oh yeah, it’ll end health insurance for some 13 million people, driving up premium costs and destabilizing the whole individual insurance market. Then they’ll use the $1.5 trillion “deficit crisis” they are creating today to try to decimate Medicare and Medicaid and probably even Social Security next year. They’ve admitted that, out loud.
Apparently, Ryan and his band of nihilists believe that we're all too stupid to see what they're doing right in front of our eyes. It's a delusion that is likely to infect Senate Republicans who are taking this up immediately, and will probably vote it out sometime tonight.
Well, Mr. Ryan, we're here to prove you sooooo wrong. That 55 percent disapproval for this bill is going to swell into a blue tsunami in November 2018.
Hold Trump and House Republicans responsible for this disastrous tax plan. Help future Democratic challengers with your $3.
