Although this interview was recorded in September, it has been released now. It is a perfect Christmas present to those who want to remind Trump supporters what a genuine, down-to-earth president is like.
Being interviewed by Prince Harry was a strategically brilliant decision by President Obama. Instead of choosing an American interviewer, he went with the uber-popular and newsworthy Prince Harry.
This also reminds anyone not watching Fox News that there’s a major controversy about whether the Obama’s will meet the Queen before President Trump at the royal wedding.
This release comes in the midst of Trump pushing the envelop of how far mental health clinicians and pundits alike think he can go with mind-boggling narcissism and bullying.
How so many Americans think the belligerent bluster and self-aggrandizing grandiosity from Trump is presidential, and admire him to the point of worship, is a sad, sometimes tragic, commentary on how many people in general can succumb the the allure of an authoritarian cult figure.
You’ve probably seen the snippet of the interview (below) where The Good President references Trump without using his name.
“One of the dangers of the internet is that people can have entirely different realities. They can be just cocooned in information that reinforces their current biases. The question I think really has to do with how do we harness this technology in a way that allows a multiplicity of voices, allows a diversity of views, but doesn’t lead to a balkanization of our society, but rather continues to promote ways of finding common ground… All of us in leadership have to find ways in which we can recreate a common space on the internet. It used to be, in the United states for example, we had three television stations and everybody watched Walter Cronkite or David Brinkley or whoever the chief anchor was. Everybody had a common set of facts, and so there might be conservatives and liberals, but people could generally agree on a baseline of reality.”
Here’s the entire interview.
I as one of the many duty to warn therapists, I generally write about Trump’s being unfit for office due to his being a malignant narcissist.
