Doug Jones has taken the gloves off. He is going after his republican challenger hard. From Al.com
In a major speech Tuesday a week before Election Day, Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones implored Alabama voters to look beyond political party when casting their ballots and to make the election a referendum on Roy Moore's character.
"We need to look at this as parents, not voters. Will we tell our daughters that if you are abused and if you speak out, you will be believed, and Alabama will stand with you regardless of when you come forward?" Jones said in a speech live streamed on his Facebook page. "Or will we tell our young sons this behavior, this disturbing behavior is O.K.? If you're powerful enough or important enough, Alabama will simply look the other way.
Doug Jones was in Birmingham today. He gave a major speech covering many topics. Doug did not shy away from the conduct of his opponent, in fact he used the facts to help prove his argument for why to not elect the republican, but how you should throw your vote behind Doug Jones. More from Al.com
In his speech, Jones pointed out that former Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley was forced to resign earlier this year on charges stemming from an alleged affair with his senior political advisor.
"We didn't look the other way with Robert Bentley when his conduct involved consenting adults, and we cannot do it now when it involved children, no matter how long ago it might have occurred," Jones said. "We need to look at this [election] as parents, as grandparents, and not through the jaded lens of politics. This is about decency and not a political party, and anyone who thinks otherwise should be ashamed. It is about the people of Alabama, the people of Alabama who will hold Roy Moore accountable."
It is important to point at this juncture that Governor Bentley may be gone, but his legacy is directly tied to Moore. When Governor Bentley decided to pick Luther Strange ( the Attorney General of Alabama, was supposed to be investigating Bentley) everybody in Alabama knew it was a crooked deal. Strange got picked as a reward for not investigating Bentley, plain and simple. I don’t even know why that is legal. Luther Strange also lied about there being no investigation, but there was, and yeah the governor got removed. So, the voters did not want Luther Strange. The GOP lined up and threatened to blackball any republican that ran against Strange. They ran attack ads 24/7 against Mo Brooks who had the audacity to run against Luther Strange. Roy Moore jumped in the race, he slipped under the radar, no attack ads, and the people spoke. Roy Moore came in first with Luther Strange second, and Mo Brooks third. Of course when the run-off came, folks were all too glad to send Strange home for good. So here we are with an extremist running for a US Senate seat.
I will leave you with a bit more from Doug Jones speech today.
The Democratic Senate candidate also said he has been mischaracterized by Moore and his supporters -- which include President Donald Trump -- as being against the Second Amendment. He then took a shot at Moore.
"When you see me with a gun, folks, I'll be climbing in and out of a deer stand or a turkey blind, not prancing around on a stage in a cowboy suit," Jones said, a reference to Moore's victory speech in the Republican primary, when Moore pulled out a pistol to show that he defends the Second Amendment.
A vote for Moore, Jones argued, would continue Alabama's recent trend of backing disgraced politicians.
"Alabama has been embarassed long enough by political leaders who have not been leaders at all," Jones said.
Bold highlight was my choice, it just shows the contrast between these 2 men. An honest man, and a lying phony coward pretending to be a man.
