We did it with Al Gore.
We did it with Dan Rather.
We did it with Merrick Garland.
We’re doing it with Al Franken.
Folks, we are being absolutely STUPID here. We have massive legislation coming up before the end of this month and we need every strong Dem voice we can get. Getting rid of Franken hurts no Republican. Not one. Doesn’t put us in a stronger position to demand diddly squat on Roy Moore, should he get in.
This is not 3 dimensional chess. It’s just f*ing stupid.
Al Franken might be an aggressor. Frankly, I haven’t read all the damn articles and accusations leveled at either him or Roy Moore. But I do think that public opinion — and certain Senators — ought to let the process play out as an ethics investigation. Why the hell are we rushing to lose his seat, his voice?
[And don’t anybody dare come after me as a person who doesn’t know what it feels like to be harassed. I was first assaulted on a dark neighborhood street when I was 11 yo. I have lived through harassments, up to and including explicit sexual propositions, by coworkers and fellow students and bosses and taxi drivers and yes, men in Congress. I have have lived through being assaulted and raped by men. I am just one of many women in this world who lives through life looking over her shoulder.]
I don’t KNOW if Al Franken is guilty or not, is a serial aggressor or not.
I do know that every Fucking Republican out there is howling with laughter at our morality play right now.
