Parents for Social Justice, a Louisville group, organized a protest in front of Mitch McConnell’s Louisville house tonight to read Coretta Scott King’s full letter submitted to the Senate after the nomination of Sessions as a federal judge. Organizers each read one line of the letter, and the crowd chanted it at the same time. The local news media didn’t show up, but you can search #LetterToMitch to see some pictures/videos. Also a huffingtonpost article below.
To be courteous to the neighborhood, no amplification was used and the rally lasted 30 minutes. The police were nice and closed the road so we didn’t have to stay on the sidewalk. Estimates of turnout vary from 200-500. There were DEFINITELY at least 200.
Mitch was in town, but most probably not home. Parents for Social Justice is awesome, and I love that they made this happen.
